Will Green was appointed the interim President and CEO of the WVU Foundation on Tuesday, University officials announced in a press release.
The appointment follows former President and CEO Cynthia “Cindi” L. Roth’s announcement of her retirement this fall. Green will temporarily fill the role until a permanent successor is named, according to the release.
Green joined the foundation in 2024 as the senior vice president and chief development officer.
He brings over 20 years of experience in healthcare development and higher education to the foundation. He has a background in fundraising roles with Rutgers Health, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Villanova University and the University of Pennsylvania, the release said.
Officials trust him to temporarily fill the role of president and CEO, according to the release.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to express our full confidence in Will’s appointment,” Wayne Richards, chair of the WVU Foundation Board, said. “Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated sound decision‑making, strengthened relationships with key stakeholders and donors, and invested in developing his team.”
Green said he is excited to lead the foundation’s efforts.
“I joined the foundation because I believed in the impact that WVU and WVU Medicine have in the state of West Virginia and around the world,” Green said in the release. “I look forward to working more closely with President [Michael] Benson and his team to advance the priorities of WVU’s Strategic Compass and working with WVU Medicine to advance health care for the people of West Virginia and beyond.”
