BUFFALO, W.Va. — Toyota plans to add 80 jobs in West Virginia as part of a $453 million investment in its Buffalo facility in Putnam County.
Across the country, Toyota is expanding its manufacturing presence to meet growing demand for hybrid vehicles, it announced Tuesday.
In total, the company announced today a $912 million investment and 252 new jobs across five manufacturing plants that will allow it to bring hybrid-electric Corollas to its production lineup. Jobs are also being added in Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Missouri as a result.
“Customers are embracing Toyota’s hybrid vehicles, and our U.S. manufacturing teams are gearing up to meet that growing demand,” said Kevin Voelkel, senior vice president, manufacturing operations for Toyota, in a news release. “Toyota’s philosophy is to build where we sell, and by adding more American jobs and investing across our U.S. footprint, we continue to stay true to that philosophy.”
