SNOW SPORTS MUSEUM of WEST VIRGINIA SCHEDULES HALL OF FAME CEREMONY

   The Snow Sports Museum of West Virginia, in Davis, will host their first Hall of Fame Induction  Ceremony and Banquet on Sunday June 19, at Black Bear Woods Resort on Cortland Rd in Canaan Valley from 5 – 8 p.m.  This year’s ceremony will feature both the 2020 and 2021 classes because the COVID Pandemic forced the postponement of the SSMWV’s inaugural induction ceremony last summer. The evening will begin with beverages and appetizers then dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the Program and induction ceremony at 6:30 p.m. To see the menu, visit our website.

 

     The SSMWV will Honor twenty one Snow Sports Pioneers from the first two classes elected in November of ’21 and ’22 respectively. Inductees from the 2020 class include; Bob and Anita Love Barton, Mark and Bonnie Branciaroli, Dr Thomas Brigham, Chip Chase, Katheryn (Worden) and Belmont Cleaver, Edmond Couch, Jr., Murray Dearborn, David Downs, Ed Galford, Hal Leica, John Lutz, Irene and “Hobe” Mauzy, Danny Seme and Gorman Young. Those elected to the SSMWV Hall of Fame in November 2021 include; David Faunce, Ed Filler, Phil Firl, James “Chief” Haas, Fred Saltow Jr., Joe Stevens and Eddie Worden.

 

      The SSMWV was created in 2018 by a group of long-time Snow Sports Enthusiasts to preserve the artifacts and documents that accurately depict Snow Sports activities in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia since the late 1940’s. The SSMWV meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in Davis. The annual meeting is June 1,  everyone is welcome.       The SSMWV is also hosting the second annual Open House on Thursday May 26, at the Museum and Milo’s Courtyard. Music by EMay and Robbie B., great food drinks and prizes. The  second annual SSMWV Golf Classic Sept. 11 at Canaan Valley Golf Course and the third annual Lost Ball Links FUNdraiser on Oct. 1.
