The Patrick County School Board recognized and celebrated the retirement of 14 employees at its June 9 meeting.
Schools Superintendent Jason Wood said between the retirees there were 399 years of employment. “Of those 399, 337 were with Patrick County Public Schools. That shows you that once we get them to come to us, they want to stay with us because we are a wonderful place to work,” he said.
Wood said to touch the life of a child is the greatest influence in the community and society.
“Patrick County Public Schools can never thank you enough for the impact on the lives of our students,” he said.
Retirees include:
*Wendell Terry – 30 years with Patrick County, and 43 years in education.
*Keith Puckett – 26 years.
*Renee Overby – 36 years.
*Maria Wood – 33 years.
*Tony Nester – 5 years.
*Terri Moran – 26 years.
*Sandra Cockerham – 23 years.
*Sandra Clement – 30 years in Patrick County and 32 years in education.
*Dean Gilbert – 22 years in Patrick County and 25 years in education.
*Cynthia Boyles – 5 years with Patrick County and 37 years in education.
*Gurney Royall – 22 years in Patrick County and 26 years overall.
*Lynne Hylton – 25 years.
*Beth Purdy – 12 years in Patrick County and 20 years overall.
*Ann Fulcher – 42 years.
In other matters, the board:
*Approved the personnel report as amended.
*Approved the consent agenda.
*Heard the Superintendent’s Report.
*Approved the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommendation to raise the prices of adult breakfast by 5-cents to $2.35. and adult lunch 20-cents to $4.05.
