The final results are complete for one of the wackiest NCAA Basketball Tournaments ever and we have a winner in the first New Castle Record “Basketball Madness” contest.
Linda Lee of Craig Valley Drive in New Castle is the winner of a $50 gift certificate to Mac & Bob’s Restaurant in Salem. She missed the fewest among the many fans who entered our contest. Linda was correct on 42 of the 63 possible games our readers had to pick in a tournament full of upsets and exciting finishes.
Lee got off to a good start, missing just four of the 32 first round games. She got 10 of the 16 games correct in the second round and nailed half of the “Elite Eight,” picking Creighton, Texas, UConn and Gonzaga correctly. Then it got tougher as Linda didn’t get any of the “Final Four,” but who did this year? No one in the contest had more than one correct in the Final Four.
