The seventh annual Tour de Midnight Bike Event will be held October 15 supporting the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia (EFVA).  The start and finish will be at the Midnight Brewery in Rockville, Virginia.

The bike ride is broken down into three tiers: the 70 miles will travel to Lake Anna starting at 8:30 a.m., the 33 miles will travel to Montpelier starting at 9:00 a.m., and the 17 miles will travel to Rockville at 9:45 a.m.

Riders can sign up at http://www.bikereg.com/tourdemidnight.  Riders may form fundraising teams by registering at www.epilepsyva.com/pledgeteams and donations supporting the event are welcomed.

Volunteers will provide rest stops for the cyclists along the routes as well as rider support/mechanical assistance.  Following the ride is an epilepsy awareness event which includes food trucks, live music, fun zone, and raffles.

Platinum sponsors include Sunovion, Estes, Bon Secours Richmond Health System, Ceribell Point-of-Care EEG, SK Life Science, Inc., and UCB.

Many of the cyclists, volunteers, and attendees have been touched by epilepsy. There are 84,800 Virginians living with epilepsy and is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the world.  Epilepsy occurs when there is a surge of electrical activity in the brain that causes recurring seizures.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia strives to promote community awareness of epilepsy and the challenges those with epilepsy and their families endure.  Additionally, the Foundation provides direct assistance to those with epilepsy through various programs.  More information can be found at http:/www.epilepsyva.com.
