County residents interested in voluntary ways to conserve their properties of Botetourt have a chance to participate in an upcoming workshop at the Greenfield Education & Training Center in Daleville on Tuesday, September 20.
The open house event starts at 5:30 p.m. featuring presentations and a Q&A session from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Taylor Evans of the Valley Conservation Council and Emily Bender of Blue Ridge Land Conservancy will speak to visitors about conservation easements. Taylor Cole of Conservation Partners will discuss advantages of easement credits.
Light refreshments will be provided. The open house will include county maps and a chance to connect with partner staff.
A conservation easement is a voluntary, legal agreement that permanently limits uses of the land in order to protect its conservation values. Also known as a conservation restriction or conservation agreement, a conservation easement is one option to protect a property for future generations.
Join Botetourt County, Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, Valley Conservation Council, Blue Ridge Land Conservancy, Mountain Castles Soil & Water Conservation District, and Conservation Partners for an evening of education and conversation surrounding conservation easements.
