MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is being renamed to WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s following a $28 million donation from Thomas Golisano, according to a WVU Medicine release.
The donation “will accelerate the mission of the hospital and its affiliated clinics to provide world-class care for children and families across West Virginia and the broader region through both its main campus and its growing network of community-based pediatric clinics,” according to the release.
WVU Medicine senior leaders joined other children’s hospital representatives in New York on Tuesday at the Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship to be presented with the donation.
The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, Connecticut Children’s Hospital, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital and University of Maryland Children’s Hospital also received donations Tuesday, with a total amount of $253 million being awarded to pediatric institutions on behalf of Golisano.
