Del. Wren Williams, R-Stuart, presented an update on the Foresight Hospital and Health System project in Stuart at a March 25 veteran’s dinner.
Williams said the hospital secured an architect to work on a design/build program for the building’s top floor.
“They shared with me that they will likely gut the bottom floor and leave it empty for now. That will be considered a basement,” he said.
Foresight also secured a contractor with experience in commercial buildings. Williams said the contractor should be able to start and complete that when construction starts.
“They’ve also been able to obtain their COPN (Certificate of Public Need) license for the 10 additional beds that they were hoping for. Their current license is still in place for the critical care access, which is important for federal funding that we’re able to get back for reimbursements at the Medicare and Medicaid levels,” he said.
Williams said Foresight also secured vendors and financing to get the project off the ground.
“I’m excited to receive that report. That gives me hope,” he said.
