GLENVILLE – The Lady Mt. Lions Softball started the season with a road contest at Gilmer County on Friday March 18th.
Tucker County got the bats going in the top of the 3rd inning as Addie Hicks hit a single and then Kristen Hicks followed with another single for the Lady Mt. Lions. Paige Shaffer then hit a triple off the right field fence to drive in 2 runs. Cheyenne Gooden then hit a single to score Shaffer to make the score 3-0 Tucker County. Gilmer County then answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to put the score to 3-2 Lady Mt. Lions. Tucker County then added another run in the 4th inning as Kristen Hicks scored a run. Ava Shaffer then doubled and scored a run for Tucker County in the 5th inning to push the Lady Mt. Lions lead to 5-2 after 5 innings. The Lady Titans then scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the lead and the victory over Tucker County.
Paige Shaffer pitched 6 innings and Shaffer led Tucker County at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBI’s. Kristen Hicks, Addie Hicks and Autumn Russell added 2 hits each in the contest.
Tucker County will return to action on Friday with a game at Wahama at 5:30pm and then the Lady Mt. Lions will play two games on Saturday at Ravenswood against Ravenswood at 12pm and then against Roane County at 2pm. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
