DUNMORE – The Mt. Lions traveled to Pocahontas County on Monday February 21st. Tucker County got a big first quarter to take the lead and the Mt. Lions went on the collect the road win by the score of 63-48.
In the first quarter the visiting Mt. Lions exploded for 19 points and the Tucker County defense held the Warriors to 8 points in the period to put the score at 19-8 after one quarter. The second quarter was even as Tucker County edged Pocahontas County in scoring by a slim 18-17 margin to make the score at halftime 37-25 Mt. Lions.
Tucker County would up their lead in the third quarter as the Mt. Lions outscored Pocahontas County in the third 13-10. This made the Tucker County lead 50-35 after three. The scoring in the fourth quarter was 13-13 to give Tucker County the 37-25 victory over Pocahontas County.
Aaron Quattro led the Mt. Lions in scoring with 18 points, 8 rebounds and Owen Knotts added 15 points. Trevan Bonner and Levi Bennett added 9 points each and Ashton Lycliter led Tucker County on the boards with 10 rebounds. The Tucker County JV team also won 54-40.
HAMBLETON – Tucker County ended their regular season with a home game against East Hardy on Wednesday February 23rd. The Mt. Lions outscored the Cougars in every quarter as they cruise to a 55-34 victory.
Tucker County got their offense going quickly as the Mt. Lions led East Hardy after one quarter 14-5. The Cougars fought back in the second quarter, but Tucker County won the second 12-11 to make the halftime score 26-16 Mt. Lions.
Tucker County then pulled away further in the third quarter as they outscored East Hardy 13-7 in the period to push the lead up to 39-23 Tucker County after three. The final quarter was also controlled by the Mt. Lions 16-11 to give Tucker County the win over East Hardy 55-34.
Tucker County was led in scoring by Ashton Lycliter with 18 points, 9 rebounds and Trevan Bonner had 16 points for Tucker County in the win. Aaron Quattro chipped in with 8 points for the Mt. Lions and Levi Bennett collected 8 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. The Tucker County JV team picked up a win over East Hardy 64-44 in their last game of the season. The Mt. Lions JV team finished the season with a 14-3 record.
HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions opened Sectional play on Friday February 25th with a semi-final playoff game at home against Paw Paw. Tucker County jumped out to big lead and never looked back as they breezed to a 74-23 win.

The Mt. Lions started the game well as they took command to lead Paw Paw 16-2 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter the domination from Tucker County continued as the visiting Pirates were outscored 21-4 in the second to make the halftime score 37-6 Tucker County.
Tucker County continued their strong offense in the third as they outpaced Paw Paw 22-4 in the third quarter to increase the Mt. Lions lead to 59-10. The fourth quarter was competitive, but Tucker County edged Paw Paw in scoring 15-13. The game ended with the Mt. Lions win by the final score of 74-23.
The Mt. Lions were led in scoring by Aaron Quattro with 14 points and Ethan Rosenau added 12 points for Tucker County in the win. Justin Robeson added 11 points, 8 rebounds and Trevan Bonner chipped in with 8 points for the Mt. Lions.
Tucker County (21-2) will return to action Thursday March 3rd at home for the Sectional Championship. The Mt. Lions will host the winner of Union / East Hardy at 7pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
