FRANKLIN – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Pendleton County on Wednesday January 18th for an away home game with the Wildcats. Tucker County trailed after three quarters, but the Mt. Lions got a big fourth quarter to pull ahead for the win on the road by the score of 58-47.
The first quarter was controlled by Pendleton County as they led Tucker County 18-13 after one quarter of play. The second quarter was also won by the homestanding Wildcats 12-7 to give Pendleton County the 30-20 halftime lead.
The Mt. Lions responded in the third quarter as they outscored Pendleton County 12-7 to cut the Wildcats lead to 37-32 after three quarters of play. The visiting Mt. Lions then exploded in the final quarter as they outscored Pendleton County 26-10 to get the comeback victory by the final score of 58-47.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County in scoring off the bench with 18 points as he made 5 three point baskets in the game. Levi Bennett and Maddox Anderson added 8 points each for the Mt. Lions in the win. Ashton Lycliter led the Mt. Lions on the boards with 10 rebounds. The Mt. Lions JV team picked up the win also 40-30.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team hosted Gilmer County on Saturday January 21st for a Varsity only contest. The Mt. Lions controlled the game from the start as they cruised to a 65-23 victory.
In the first quarter Tucker County jumped out to a big lead as they led after one quarter 19-4. The second quarter was also dominated by the Mt. Lions as they outscored the Titans 16-7 to make the halftime score 35-11 Tucker County.
The third quarter was won by the Mt. Lions 16-4 to push the lead up to 51-15 Tucker County after three quarters. The Mt. Lions outscored Gilmer County in the final quarter 14-8 to give Tucker County the 65-23 win.
The Mt. Lions were led in scoring by Maddox Anderson with 14 points and Ethan Rosenau added 9 points for Tucker County in the win. Ashton Lycliter and Garrett Wilfong led the Mt. Lions with 8 rebounds each.
Tucker County(8-3) will return to action Thursday January 26th at East Hardy. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Southern, MD on Friday January 27th. The JV games for both nights will begin at 6pm, and the varsity games each night will follow the JV game. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
