Sirens & Salutes, a nonprofit organization based out of Buchanan, placed hundreds of artificial wreaths on veterans’ graves in Fairview Cemetery last Saturday morning with the help of several members of the community.
Volunteers of all ages previously took time out to pick up the wreaths, unbox, fluff, and tie ribbons on each wreath. Bill and Cindy Price of Sirens & Salutes once again headed up the project and thanked all the volunteers who helped this season.
Buchanan volunteer firefighter and member of the Empty Tomb Motorcycle Ministry Dwayne Belcher shared a verse from the book of Matthew which talks about searching oneself in finding the right path and offered a brief prayer of thanks.
Empty Tomb Motorcycle Ministry, along with members of Blue Ridge Christian Riders, ABATE Purgatory Mountain, and ABATE Mountain Thunder/Bent Mountain helped the place the wreaths.
The wreaths will remain on veterans’ graves through the holiday season. On Jan. 7, Sirens & Salutes invites volunteers to help pick up the wreaths. For more information about Sirens & Salutes upcoming events, visit the Sirens & Salutes Facebook page.
