The Patrick County Girls Varsity Team traveled to Halifax, December 13, where they took on the Lady Comets. Halifax had a 14-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, but Patrick County came back in the second. They outscored Halifax 19-7 in the 4th, finishing off a 53-40 win.
Missy Hazard let the Cougars with 17 points, 6 assists, 7 steals, and 2 rebounds. Fifteen of those 17 points were from behind the three-point line. Aniya Penn had 11 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Allanah Mitchell had 10 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound.
“It was a hard-fought win for our kids. It was close throughout. We got a couple of breaks and shots started to fall in the 4th to get the win. A good high school game between two pretty even teams. Good game for us,” said coach Donny Rakes.
