Ocie Lera Setliff Lawson DeHart

Mrs. Ocie Lera Setliff Lawson DeHart, age 90, of Woolwine, Virginia departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at SOVAH Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County on January 4, 1932, to the late James Jackson Setliff and the late Ella Whalen Setliff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Grady James Lawson; two brothers, Chester Setliff, Roger Setliff; three sisters, Christine Setliff, Gladys Setliff, Ada Lewis; one nephew, Richard Setliff; one great-great niece; two sisters-in-law and special friends, Burnice Lawson Turner and Bessie Lawson. Ocie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was dedicated, very outgoing, always there for any reason needed, and treated everyone the same. Mrs. DeHart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. DeHart are her second husband of 28 years, Billy DeHart of the home; five children, David Setliff (Linda), Lonnie Lawson (Jewel), Jerry Lawson (Patricia) all of Stuart, Virginia, Jane Fretwell (Steve) of Patrick Springs, Virginia, Phillip Lawson (Cheryl Dillon) of Stuart, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law and special friend, Elvie Lawson Turner of Stuart, Virginia; numerous special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, special friends, Inez Chaney, Inez Hylton, Georgeanna Penn, Edd and Mary Ann Kieffer, Wilfred and Linda Prillaman, and Izie Martin.

A graveside service for Mrs. DeHart will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lawson Family Cemetery in Elamsville. Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mrs. DeHart. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is serving the DeHart family, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
