The Patrick County Music Association (PCMA) announced the lineup of its show set for Saturday, May 21.
Barry Collins & The Mudflappers, of Floyd, will headline the show, and the feature band will be the bluegrass music group Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder. Each act will take the stage for an hour to 90 minutes.
The event will be held at the Rotary Building in Stuart. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the music will start at 6 p.m.
Denny Alley, president of PCMA, said Collins is an award-winning banjo player who has won the annual Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention. “He’s pretty much a stage comedian, and anything he does will crack you up. He’s an entertainer,” he said.
Alley said McPeak is the son of one of the McPeak Brothers, a popular bluegrass trio from Wytheville. “He’s carrying on the family tradition, and part of their show will probably consist of the original McPeak Brothers music,” he said.
After the June show the PCMA will take a break for the summer with music shows resuming in October. “We will not be there in the summer months due to the heat,” he said.
Admission is a $5 donation at the door. Lawn chairs are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
Concessions will be available for purchase from the Patrick County Shooting Education Team, with proceeds going to teach children in the area firearm safety.
