ELKINS, W.Va. — The newly created Mountain Region Special Response Team had its first-ever official meetings and finished up five days of training in the area recently, including at Elkins Middle School.
The team, which consists of 30 to 32 police officers from Randolph and surrounding counties, was a vision of Elkins Police Chief Travis Bennett which has now come to life.
“I started talking with Chief Bennett about this about a year ago and we started reaching out to other agencies to see if they wanted to be a part of it,” Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon told The Inter-Mountain. “All the operating procedures have been put in place and now we are working together and starting to do the training.” …
