welch – A $1 million grant for one of McDowell County’s towns was among the water and sewer grants Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Tuesday as southern West Virginia keeps recovering from February’s devastating floods.
The governor met with local dignitaries and the media for a conference at the Welch National Guard Armory where many of the county’s aid and recovery efforts were managed after a record flood hit the region. There he announced three new grants to support critical water and sewer projects in communities across the state.
These grants will advance long-overdue infrastructure upgrades, improve public health and support economic growth, Morrisey said.
“Today, we are making an investment in West Virginia’s future,” he said. “Infrastructure projects like these are critical for the daily lives of our residents and will help attract new residents, businesses and jobs to the Mountain State.”
