LIPSCOMB SELECTED AS CHRISTMAS PARADE GRAND MARSHAL

Parsons, West Virginia – Mayor  Dorothy  Judy  announced that   the  Grand

Marshal for the 2022 Christmas Parade will be Rebecca “Lynn” Lipscomb.

It is  no  surprise  that  Lipscomb’s  favorite  holiday  is  Christmas.    She starts decorating the outside  and  inside  of her  home  for Christmas  in  late  October.    She has  hosted many  house tours  and  has  won  numerous decorating  contests.   Her home is definitely a  must  see  at Christmas time.   Lipscomb has also been  very active with the  Parsons  Christmas parades for the  past  several decades.  She has served  in different roles, but most  notable is carrying the main banner down the  city streets of Parsons  officially kicking off the  Christmas festivities.

“This  position  of  Grand  Marshal  is  traditionally  reserved for  individuals  that  have  made  a major  impact  in  our  community,”  stated Mayor Judy.    “This  is  why  I felt  it  only  fitting  to honor  Lynn Lipscomb during this year’s parade.”

The Frosty Christmas Parade, will be on Saturday evening, December 10 at

6 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue  near  Parsons  Shop  ‘N  Save.   We encourage everyone to come  out  early  to  enjoy  the  festivities  at  the  Tucker  County  Courthouse  Plaza.    Activities start   at  4 p.m.  which  include  the   Community  Choir,  free  hay  wagon   rides,  free  hot chocolate and cookies, free s’mores over an open  fire, and much more.   The Craft Show runs from  5 to  7 p.m. at  the   Parsons   Volunteer  Fire  Department.    Following  the parade, awards  will  be  presented at  the  Tucker  County  Courthouse  Plaza  and  Santa  Claus will be at the  Parsons  Volunteer Fire Department to meet  and  greet  everyone.  We hope  you will join this wonderful family event  to celebrate the  holiday season.
