The Lady Cougar JV Softball Team hosted Tunstall Tuesday, March 29, defeating the Lady Trojans 16-1 in 4 innings. Kylee Joyce pitched a no hitter striking out 9 and giving up 1 run.
Joyce was on fire at the plate as well, going 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs.
Kyleigh Gusler was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Bryley Pike, Hayden Lawless, Lily Hazelwood, Eliza Clifton, and Maria Turner all had hits in the game.
The Lady Cougars traveled to the Franklin County Tournament Saturday, April 2, winning two more. In the first game, PC got the 6-1 win over William Byrd. Journey Moore pitched a complete 7 inning game, striking out 9, walking 2, giving up 2 hits, and 1 unearned run. Lexi Cutchins was 2 for 2 with a bases loaded triple and 2 RBIs. Moore was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and an RBI. Aniya Penn went 2 for 3, and Kylee Joyce added a double and an RBI. In the second game, Patrick County defeated Chestnut Ridge 5-3 in 8 innings. Joyce started on the mound for the Lady Cougars, giving up one hit and one walk through 3 innings. In the bottom of the 4th, Chestnut Ridge put together a single and 2 bunts to load the bases. Moore came in to relieve Joyce, giving up a single. That, combined with a Cougar error, tied the score at 3-3 before ending the inning. The game went into extra innings using the tie breaker rule, which put Joyce on 2nd base to start the top of the 8th. Journey Moore lined a hit into the outfield, scoring Joyce from second. Gusler got on base, and an intentional walk loaded the base. Penn singled to drive Moore in with the 5th run. Moore pitched the final 4 innings, giving up no hits or walks and striking out 4. Moore was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Penn was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Pike was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. The JV Cougars are now 7-0 on the season.
