KINGWOOD, W.Va. (WV News) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey said he wants to ensure the MidAtlantic Resiliency Link is not just using the state as a “pass-through.”
This past Thursday, NextEra Energy, the company overseeing the MidAtlantic Resiliency Link, announced the proposed route for the power line extension project — a roughly 107.5-mile, 500-kilovolt transmission line and 500/138-kV substation designed to improve the reliability of the local electric grid, according to NextEra officials.
The project, which is planned to run from a substation in Dunkard Township, Pennsylvania, to a connection point near Gore, Virginia, has been met with opposition from officials and residents in West Virginia who are concerned about its potential impact on their communities.
When asked about his thoughts on the project, Morrisey noted that concerns had been raised with the project and that he and his team would continue to take a close look.
