Frances Elizabeth Hazelwood, age 91 of Stuart, passed away August 12, 2022, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. She is also lovingly known as Nannie and NanTie to her nieces and nephews. She was born June 14, 1931, to the late Irvin and Annie Hazelwood. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clyde, John, Ray, and James Hazelwood; her sisters, Virginia Haymond, Dorothy Ross; nieces and nephews, Priscilla Hazelwood Van Sutphin Bullins, Charles Lewis Ross, Barry Turner, Ali Turner.
She graduated from Stuart High School in 1950. She worked for Hudson’s Drug Store for 51 years. She made the best fountain drinks for the teenagers after school, and she wrapped the prettiest gifts. She was very knowledgeable about family history and could remember people she met years ago.
She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Melissa Ross Hall and husband, Roger of Stuart, Joy Haymond Turner of Stuart and her children, Cathy, Mike, and Jason Turner and their families. Also, a great niece, Pam Van Sutphin Craig and husband, Kenny of Bassett, and their children, Wendy, Marissa, and their families.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Stuart Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Shepherd officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com. The family would like to thank Dr. Cole and his staff, all the nurses and staff at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection for her care. Also, a multitude of thanks to her roommate, Pauline Epperly and her family and friends for their love and kindness, and to Danny and Rhonda Marshall, Pat Bowman, and Rhonda Nelson for their friendships.
