Whether it was Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Gimme Three Steps,” Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall,” or Ozzy Osborne’s “Crazy Train,” Power House Fallz rocked the streets of Stuart Saturday during the 19th annual Strawberry Festival.
The band, which describes itself as an “up and coming classic, southern, and modern rock band from Southwestern” Virginia, includes Melody Tate on lead vocals, Sam Meland, Peyton Montgomery on bass
and Christina Robinson on guitar.
After enjoying the music, festival attendees perused the wares of vendors in canopies that lined the street. Many stepped inside nearby stores and eateries to take a break from the soaring temperature.
“There are a lot of different things and a lot of different booths,” Penny Cox, of Ridgeway, said.
Noting that she enjoyed walking around and pursuing the various wares, Cox said she plans to attend future events.
Kathleen Batts, of Batts Blooming Blessings Farm, said this was her second year attending and participating as a vendor at the fest.
“I enjoyed just seeing all the people and the community coming out and supporting the vendors,” she said.
Festival regular Marcy Adl-doost, of Stuart, said she liked the foods associated with the festival, especially the strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries from Mabe’s Berry Farm.
Adl-doost said she enjoyed looking at different booths, and particularly enjoyed those that sold jewelry. Like many, she already plans to return next year.
“This is fun and they have good music,” she said.
