The Uptown Cruise In, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Stuart, is set to be held from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, in Stuart.
All vehicles are welcome, especially those that have been customized or are refurbished antiques.
There is no cost to display a vehicle.
The Part Time Party Band, which performs beach music/variety band, is scheduled to take the main stage at 5:30 p.m., and perform until 8:30 p.m.
Wayne Kirkpatrick, a member of the club, said the organization decided to sponsor the cruise in when the Patrick County Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) wanted an independent agency to host the event.
“Rotary Club has a history of, not necessarily cruise ins, but car shows, and we would like to get back toward working with some sort of event involving antique vehicles and such. People really enjoy seeing them and looking at them, all the chrome and things we don’t have on cars anymore,” Kirkpatrick said.
The Patrick County Visitor’s Center and the Town of Stuart also are sponsoring the event.
Saturday’s event will mark the third cruise in held uptown, Kirkpatrick said.
“I don’t know if it’s in a row or not. COVID may have marked one out of being consecutive,” he said.
“We just want people to come to town to Main Street and be able to enjoy the shops up and down Main Street and enjoy the restaurants and also enjoy the music,” he said.
Kirkpatrick said the cruise in is an additional attraction for those visiting Stuart, and will “give people something to look at” that they likely will enjoy.
“We’re hoping for good weather,” he added, chuckling.
In the event of rains, the band will play in the Rotary Building, located at 420 Woodland Drive in Stuart.
The last cruise in attracted 300 to 400 people, all interested in seeing the classic vehicles. He hopes to meet or surpass that number with this event.
Ribeye sandwiches will be cooked onsite in the parking lot. Attendees are also encouraged to visit local eateries.
Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
Tents and/or coolers are not permitted.
