The Greenbrier County Commission met Wednesday, May 11, instead of their regular Tuesday due to Election Day on May 10.
The Commission first heard from Sheriff Bruce Sloan who presented an applicant for the Secretary Position at the Home Confinement Office. Sloan relayed to the commission his confidence in one Daphne Lynn Shortridge, and they in turn unanimously approved her hire.
In other business, the Commission considered the completion of the application for the permit pertaining to the Greenbrier County Broadband project. This permit is required by the Army Corps of Engineers to complete the broadband project portion from Sam Black to Quinwood. The Commission also unanimously approved the completion of this permit application.
Prior to adjournment, the County Commission extended a hearty “thank you” to County Clerk Robin Loudermilk, all dedicated staff and personnel in the clerk’s office, and the volunteer poll workers.
The Commission will meet for their next regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
