Stagecoach Coffee & More, a new business that recently opened up along the Jeb Stuart Highway in Patrick Springs, is providing easily accessible coffee and other goodies.
Yvette Hoyt, owner, said she and her family decided to open the cart because there are no coffee stands nearby.
“Where we come from in Washington, there’s a coffee stand on every corner. So, we’re like ‘we’re right here in Patrick Springs and everyone’s coming by, where’s the coffee,’” she said.
While Hoyt has talked about opening a stand since she moved to the area two years ago, she and her three daughters, one of which has five years’ experience as a barista, started seriously considering opening the shop about six months ago.
“We’ve had such a great response from the people. Everyone’s been so nice to us,” she said.
Similar to the coffee stands she frequented before moving to the area, Hoyt said she decided to make the business a drive-thru, “because who wants to get out of their car. It’s hot. So, you just drive up, place your order, and let us do the work.”
In addition to a variety of coffee drinks, offerings include breakfast and lunch foods, primarily sandwiches, and some café pastries.
“We also have something called a Lotus drink, which is a natural energy drink that’s all plant-based. You can either do a lotus mix or a Red Bull” with it, she said.
While the menu is simple, Hoyt said it will change depending on customer feedback, with less popular items replaced with alternatives.
“It’s really going to be community response. We’re going to try a few of these and we’re playing around with it” as we go, she said.
She added that as the cart does not have a deep fryer, and fried foods are not served.
Hoyt also said the name is a reference to the stage coaches that used to run through the area. The menu is also country themed with ‘The Bandit,’ ‘The Lasso,’ and ‘The Saddle’ among items available for purchase.
“We want to keep the country feeling and stay within the community,” she said.
At the soft opening on Monday, May 30, Hoyt said about 50 customers were served. “The response was really nice, and that’s the best thing.”
In the future, Hoyt hopes to set up tables and umbrellas, so customers may stop and eat there, and perhaps enjoy live music. She also wants to do something for local groups, like volunteer fire departments. “Not so much a charity, but do an event where we can give back to local” organizations.
The stand is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, but she continues to explore other options, like potentially Monday-Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., she said.
