“Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and diligence.” ~ Abigail Adams.
Congratulations to all the graduates of 2022. While you earned your degree, the learning never stops. Be diligent in acquiring new skills and new information.
Graduation weekend was packed full of events. The chamber assisted with the 5K run/walk for Caring Hearts Free Clinic and then enjoyed the fresh strawberries at the festival. Sunday was the Spring Garden Fete for Bull Mountain Arts where they auctioned off the Pickle & Ash murals. This first year event was a great success, with every mural being purchased.
The chamber is diligently working on many projects while we head into summer. While our event calendar for the next few months may be quiet, we are gearing up for the busy fall season. Currently, we assisted the West Piedmont Planning Commission and the county with being part of the interview panel for the Downtown Stuart Revitalization Project. We look forward to continual involvement in that project to see the planning grant come to fruition. The chamber is also partnering with other local non-profits to spearhead a stakeholder meeting with the purpose of starting a local affiliate with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The Patrick County Magazine has been a great success. Copies have been flying out of the chamber, and from the shelves of the Visitors Center and area businesses. We will be ramping up advertisement sales for the Fall 2022 edition in June, so if you missed your opportunity for the spring edition, please do not hesitate to contact me to be included in the Fall 2022 edition. We have had our preliminary meeting to work on the content of the magazine, and once again, everyone will be excited and impressed with the stories that will be included.
Coming in June, we will open the application up for our PCVA Business Builders bootcamp. This eight-week program is geared toward helping individuals go from a business idea to implementation. This is a great program for anyone wanting to start a business in Patrick County.
The chamber is partnering with The Landmark Center to host a Business After Hours on Tuesday, June 28, 5 to 7 p.m. We hope you can join us for this evening of networking. More information and registration are coming soon.
New Businesses this month are Soular Development.
