Alderson-Carol Jean Harrah, 89, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.
She was born Mar. 7, 1933, in Sophia, WV, a daughter of the late Lester D. Eller and Viola (Blevins) Eller.
After graduating Sophia high school in 1951, Carol went on to work for Sophia Finance and Household Finance in Richmond and later returned to Alderson where she became a loving homemaker and mother. She was a devout member of the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Tri County Memorial VFW Post 6723 in Alderson.
Carol will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her cat, Precious. She enjoyed gardening, the long walks around Alderson, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Eric Harrah and wife Rhonda, of Henrico, VA, and Jeff Harrah, of Hinton; her grandson, Nicholas Cain Harrah, of Henrico, VA; her brother, Jerry Eller and wife Barbara, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sisters, Peggy Haley and husband, Dennis, of Melbourne, FL, Barb Willis, of Jacksonville, NC, and Katie Brown, of Amelia, VA; and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jennings Earl Harrah; her stepmother, Ruth V. Barrett; and her brothers, Jack Eller, Mickey Eller, and Don Eller.
Family and friends are welcome to call at Lobban Funeral Home, 205 S. Monroe Street, Alderson, Friday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. with services taking place at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Reverend Jeffrey Kanode officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Greenbrier Memorial Cemetery in Alderson.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
