The Town of Buchanan has announced it will change the due date for the 2022 real estate and personal property tax bills. Bills originally due on December 5 will now be due on December 31. The change is temporary and will only affect 2022 tax bills.
The delay in mailing the tax bills was caused by difficulty in importing the tax information from the county. In addition, the town’s third-party print vendor experienced extraordinary challenges this month in producing and mailing the tax bills, including both mechanical problems and unforeseen staffing shortages.
The mailing of tax statements is expected to occur the week of November 25. The tax statements were printed with a December 5 due date. Any taxpayer that pays a penalty prior to the new due date will be refunded.
