Every year, DEQ publishes an annual summary recycling report that provides details on recycling conducted by each solid waste planning unit along with a state recycling rate calculation based on the data provided by these planning units. The required rate is 15%.
Botetourt County had a 19.7% recycling rate for 2022. Since 2019, Botetourt has seen a 24% increase in community recycling.
Virginia’s recycling rate sits at approximately 43%.
Botetourt County partners with Recycling & Disposal Solutions to provide recycling. GFL, Kelley’s Garbage Collection and Kessler participate.
GFL’s Convenience Center located in Cloverdale has a single stream compactor that will recycle cardboard, plastic, paper and glass. It also accepts metal, yard waste and tires.
