This beautiful French tea set is gold on white porcelain and has 12 cups and saucers. It was used by the John Gray family in their home at Prospect Hill. John Gray was the High Sheriff of Botetourt County in 1848. He built his home on a hill overlooking Fincastle in 1818. It was constructed in the traditional board-sided Federal style. Today, it is on the National Register of Historic Places and will be on the Garden Club of Virginia tour April 30. Peggy Davis drove to Penhook at Smith Mountain Lake to pick up this tea set,
which was donated by Sallye Josey Crawford. It has been on display at the Botetourt County Museum since it was delivered on September 8, 2005.
