For the first time in approximately 3 ½ years, the Patrick County Boys Varsity Basketball Team picked up a win. The Cougars opened regular season play in the Cougar Den, November 28, with an intense, down to the wire game. New Head Coach Brian Chitwood led his team to a 57-56 win over the Wildcats of Dan River. Dan River had a 16-9 advantage at the end of the 1st quarter, but PC outscored them by 15 in the 2nd. The Wildcats made a comeback effort, going ahead by 1 with seconds left in the game. However, the Cougars wanted it more and sealed the deal. David Smith had a game high 21 points and 3 rebounds. Jaivontae Penn had 18 points and 6 assists. Jalen Hagwood had 7 points, Noah Jessup had 5 points, and Payton Stovall added 4.
