Blenko Glass Co. dropped its latest collection recently, and it is filled with colorful, autumn-inspired pieces.
The collection, titled Something Colorful This Way Comes, ranges from suncatchers with Midnight Meow, Coven Queen and more designs, priced at $18-22, to Trick ‘R Treat Pumpkin Pails and Spellbound Hats, priced at $129.
Blenko Operations Manager Kris Dillon-Tomblin said West Virginia’s autumn colors, scenery and overall feeling inspired the new pieces.
“We believe in trying to pull from what’s around us,” Dillon-Tomblin said. “We try to keep it as Appalachian as we can.”
The designs for this year’s fall collection are new, but some of the molds used to create them were repurposed from previous designs, Dillon-Tomblin said. Each item is made by hand by Blenko employees in Milton, Cabell County.
“Each piece of glass has approximately 30 pairs of hands that touch each one, so what we do is very unique,” Dillon-Tomblin said.
The fall collection is currently available to shop online at Blenko’s website. While the items are seasonal, Dillon-Tomblin said customers have plenty of time to shop for the pieces they want. The fall collection won’t be pulled from the site until they begin to shift to a new collection for the winter holidays.
Blenko also decided to keep the FeLine Decanter pieces — Ginger Cat, Yellacat, Tuxedo Cat and The Void Cat — a permanent feature of the shop.
Dillon-Tomblin said this year’s collection already has higher sales than last year’s, with the Jack-Be-Little Figural, Spellbound Hat and The Void Cat being the most popular.

Blenko’s fall event
The fall collection will be available at Blenko’s Flannel, Fire & Finds event on Oct. 24. During the event, the warehouse will be open to up to 100 people at a time for the Warehouse Sale.
Attendees can also sign up for a Blow Your Own Pumpkin experience, which will give them a chance to try glassblowing. Live demonstrations will happen throughout the event for those who don’t want to try glassblowing themselves, and visitors will be able to see the newly reopened Garden of Glass.
“We usually have something for everybody,” Dillon-Tomblin said.
