CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The Clarksburg Water Board will receive $19 million in state funds toward the next phase of its ongoing lead waterline replacement project, Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Monday.
The funds underscore his administration’s commitment to making meaningful investments in infrastructure as a means of improving quality of life and attracting investment, Morrisey said.
“This funding is going toward replacing lead lines that can harm West Virginia families, but it’s also going to upgrade the system’s undersized water mains,” he said. “The upgrades are going to help strengthen fire protection — which is very important in this area — it’s going to modernize water meters, repair leaking lines and, most importantly, deliver lasting improvements to the community.”
Morrisey applauded Clarksburg officials for coordinating multiple overlapping construction projects in the city.
“They’re trying to open up the streets and get everything done at the same time,” he said. “You don’t have to have this back and forth — one year you’re doing water, one year you’re doing broadband, and another year you’re looking to do energy. I think they’re looking to do everything together, and I think that’s very, very helpful.”
