Tabitha Overby, Chief Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, plans to seek the position of Commissioner of Revenue in the General Election on November 7.
Overby began working in the Commissioner’s office part-time in April 2005. She became a full-time employee in November 2006.
A native and resident of Patrick County, Overby graduated from Patrick County High School in 2000 and from Patrick Henry Community College, now Patrick & Henry Community College, in 2002. She has continued her education by taking classes through the Weldon Cooper Center of Public Service at the University of Virginia and received her certification as Master Deputy Commissioner of Revenue.
“I feel that my over 16 years’ experience will be an asset to fulfill the duties required as Commissioner,” Overby said. “I have enjoyed working with the citizens of Patrick County, and would greatly appreciate their support as I seek election of this position.”
Overby lives in Patrick Springs with her husband Stephen Overby. They have three children, Heather Spencer, who is a junior at Patrick County High School; Tyler Spencer, who lives in North Carolina and Amanda Devor, of Morgantown, West Virginia.
Overby is the daughter of Thomas and Kathey Bocock of Woolwine.
