MILL CREEK – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Tygarts Valley on Wednesday February 8th. The Mt. Lions responded after a slow start to get the road win over the Bulldogs 50-34.
The first quarter was slow for both teams as the homestanding Bulldogs led after one quarter 5-2. Tucker County’s Ethan Rosenau then ignited the offense for the Mt. Lions as Rosenau scored 18 points in the second quarter to allow Tucker County to outscore Tygarts Valley 23-12 to lead 25-17 at the halftime break.
The third quarter would belong to the Mt. Lions as they outpaced the Bulldogs 14-6 to put the score to 39-23 Tucker County after three. The final quarter was even as both teams scored 11 points to give the Mt. Lions the road win by the final score of 50-34.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County in scoring with 20 points off the bench. Trevan Bonner added 11 points for Tucker County in the win. The Mt. Lions JV team picked up the win also 41-35.
HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions ended the week with a home game on Saturday February 11th against Southern Garrett, MD. Tucker County used a big first quarter to build a lead and get the home win over the Rams 53-41.
The Mt. Lions exploded in the first quarter to lead after one 17-8. Tucker County then added to their lead slightly in the second quarter as they outscored Southern 13-10 to make the score at the half 30-18 Mt. Lions.
The third quarter was close as Tucker County edged the Rams 9-8 in the period to make the score 39-26 at the end of the three quarters. The fourth quarter was won slightly by Southern 15-14 to put the final score at 53-41 Tucker County.
Ethan Rosenau led the Mt. Lions with 11 points and Ashton Lycliter added 10 points, 15 rebounds for Tucker County. Trevan Bonner chipped in with 9 points and Levi Bennett pulled down 8 rebounds for the Mt. Lions in the win. The Tucker County JV team fell to Southern in the first game 44-38
