Mrs. Lillie Gertrude Clifton Pendleton, age 90 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Twin County Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1932, to the late Samuel Evans Clifton and Lillie Morrison Clifton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ralph Pendleton; a grandson, Ray Lee Strother; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Marie Martin; three brothers, Carlos, Gilmer, and Lilbern Clifton; and two sisters, Lucy Lawson, and Judy Dalton. Gertrude was the rock of the family. She always made time for her family and loved spending time with them. She loved to sing and loved it even more when the family all sang together. Gertrude was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Mrs. Pendleton are her four children, Linda McPeak and husband, Cameron, Vickie Bowman and husband, Otis, Wanda Turner and husband, Randy, Tony Pendleton and wife, Amy; seven grandchildren, Pamie Hylton and husband, Dwayne, Dean Martin, Kevin Handy and wife, Michelle, Tracy Handy and wife, Bambie, Angie Walker and husband, Tony, Caleb Pendleton, Hunter Pendleton; two, step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, Maverick and Charlotte Eckrote; three brothers, Gene Clifton and wife, Shirley, Kenneth Clifton and Danny Clifton; a special friend Regina Pendleton; and numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral services for Mrs. Pendleton will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Shaun Draughn officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
