Ms. Faye Turner Rorrer, age 80 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at Carilion Roanoke Memorial on Monday, December 5, 2022. She was born in Maryland on March 28, 1942, to the late Wallace “Ball” Turner and Elsie Foley Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Stacy T. Rorrer and Steve W. Rorrer; four brothers, James “J.W” Wright, Danny Wright, Ronnie Wright, and Calvin Wright. Faye attended Community Baptist Church in Bassett and was well known for singing gospel music. She traveled around the area singing at many church events. She and her son won a first-place ribbon at the Vesta Fourth of July Festival for their rendition of “By the Mark.” She was an awesome cook and had a way of making everyone feel special. She will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, caring sister, aunt, and friend.
Left to cherish the memory of Ms. Rorrer are one daughter, Tammy Benfield and husband, Wayne; one son, Scott Rorrer; seven grandchildren, Robert Benfield and wife, Jessica, Keavie Branscom and husband, Jeff, Benjamin Rorrer, Joshua Young and wife Kristina, Jessica Keaton and husband, Daniel, Hunter Rorrer, and Jordan Rorrer; eleven great grandchildren; special friend, Glayton Setliff; sister, Pam Howell and husband, Kenneth; brothers, Clayton Wright, and Michael Harrison and wife, Lisa; special sister-in-law, Diane Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Ms. Rorrer will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Robert Benfield, Pastor J.D. Walker, and Kenneth Howell officiating. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
