Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Wilson Murphy, age 83 of Spencer, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at SOVAH of Martinsville. He was born in Henry County on June 17, 1939, to the late Jessie Richard Murphy and Lucy Myrtle Philpott Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Vera Ayers, Katherine Washburn, Mattie Carter, Inez Shockley; and one brother, Richard Murphy. Ronnie was a member of Stella Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and reading his bible.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Margie Craig Murphy of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Tracy Murphy, Mike and Sandra Murphy all of Spencer; four grandchildren, Caleb Murphy, Lauren Murphy, Kayla Dishon and husband, Nick, Rachel Murphy; two great grandchildren, Kate Dishon, Juliette Dishon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Stella Christian Church with Pastors Steve Hayes and Ed Hartman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grundy Mission Fund, 1760 Edgewater Dr., Grundy, VA 24614.
