The Economic Development Authority (EDA) discussed the Rich Creek Shell Building at its Oct. 26 meeting.
EDA Director Sean Adkins said he recently submitted an application to the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission for funds to gut the building and install a sprinkler system in.
“So, we can remove the firewalls and that will open up the shell entirely. It’ll look more marketable” to potential businesses, he said.
Adkins also plans to apply to the federal EDA for about $95,000 in matching funds.
