Editor,
EMS LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE. I was found non-responsive and incoherent. My friends call EMS. While they were waiting, they took my blood sugar (I am diabetic); it read 167 so they eliminated low blood sugar. EMS arrived
and were putting me in the ambulance. The EMT said “Let’s take her blood sugar again with my device.’ They did and my blood sugar was 24. Anything under 54 is considered critically low and dangerous. I was very close to a diabetic coma, organ failure and death. He gave me some dextrose and I was fine in a half an hour. Without their speedy response and medical knowledge, I might not be here to write this. You might be next!
