Foresight Hospital and Health Systems recently purchased the building that housed the Fresenius Kidney Care of Patrick County. The facility is located on Rich Creek Drive in Stuart.
Foresight COO and General Counsel Joe Hylak-Reinholtz said the purchase agreement with Ventures Real Estate, LLC provides that the closing of the transaction shall occur no later than Dec. 30.
“At this time, we do not plan to disclose the purchase price. However, the dialysis center is in excellent condition, and we expect that it will require very little renovation,” he said.
The center closed in fall 2017, shortly after the Pioneer Community Hospital of Patrick County closed in September 2017.
Due to the length of time the center has been vacant, Hylak-Reinholtz said new equipment must be purchased, which he described as “mainly dialysis machines for 10 stations.”
Foresight estimates the center will reopen in mid-2023, which will coincide with the reopening of the hospital.
Hylak-Reinhotlz said Foresight is in the process of identifying key staff who will aid patients with in-center hemodialysis treatments.
“We have identified a nephrologist who plans to obtain Virginia licensure and be the primary nephrologist for the facility,” he said.
Once the transaction closes, he said Foresight plans to release more information about the project.
