The Cougar’s Varsity Golf Team competed in the 2C Region Tournament, September 27, at Olde Mill Golf Club. Floyd County won with a score of 321.
Patrick County tied for 2nd with James River with a score of 350. This led to a sudden death situation where James River got the advantage.
Wesley Roberson led the Cougars with a score of 77. Jalen Hagwood shot an 85, Chance Corns shot a 93, and Jordan Harris shot a 95. Roberson was named to the 1st Team All-Region Team and Hagwood was named to the 2nd Team All-Region Team.
Coach Philip Steagall was excited about the season.
“We had a great season this year. I’m very proud of all our young ladies and young me for their hard work, attitude, and effort they put into this season,” he said.
Roberson will advance to play as an individual in the 2A State Tournament at Olde Mill October 10.
