On Sept. 1, a new resource for the region began operation on the Meadow River Community Center campus in Rupert. The Meadow River Valley Family Support Center (FSC) is part of a statewide system of support centers that provide safe and convenient locations where families can receive or be referred to community-based services. The FSC is funded through a grant from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services through the nonprofit, Community Connections, Inc.
The Marvel Center (also on the campus) and a local advisory committee are working with the Family Support Center staff to develop local connections that will serve families in the region. Services may include child playgroups, food and diaper pantries, parental counseling and parental and life skills workshops.
If you have questions, would like to receive more information, or are interested in partnering with the FSC, please contact the director Lesley Toliver at 304-520-6423.
