The Patrick County Golf Team traveled to Greens Folly Golf Course August 17, placing 4th in the district match with a 329.
Wesley Roberson shot a 79, Jalen Hagwood shot an 80, Jordan Harris had a score of 84, while Chance Corns and Kylee Joyce tied with an 86.
Coach Philip Steagall said, “This was a good team score today. We are seeing improvement each day. We just have to continue to work hard on our approach shots and on our putting skills.”
The team took on Franklin County August 18, where the Eagles defeated the Cougars 332-322. Roberson led the Cougars with a 78, followed by a tied score of 83 by Hagwood and Corns. Harris shot an 88.
“Today’s score was a good team score and a tough golf course,” said Coach Steagall. “Seeing a lot of improvement in our players over the last couple of weeks. Just need to continue to work hard as we enter the middle part of the season.”
The Varsity Cougar Golf Team competed in a district match at the Danville Country Club August 22. PC shot a 325, giving them a 3rd place finish. Wesley Roberson led the Cougars with a score of 73. Chance Corns shot an 81, Jalen Hagwood shot an 82, and Kylee Joyce shot an 89. Coach Steagall said, “This was a great team score on a very tough golf course.”
The Cougars traveled to Forest Park Country Club August 25 to play in another district match. Although the team finished 4th in the match, they shot a 321, their highest team score this year. Hagwood shot a 72 in an even par round. Roberson shot a 76, Jordan Harris shot an 84, and Corns shot an 89. “This was our best team score of the season. I am looking for good things out of these young men and young ladies as we go through the 2nd half of our season,” said Coach Steagall.
