CHARLESTON, W.Va — Each year, the West Virginia Press Association hosts a newspaper contest recognizing the best editorial and advertising work of staff members around the state. The newspapers with the highest point totals earn General Excellence recognition for editorial and advertising work. The newspaper with the highest overall point total wins the Newspaper of the Year Award.
