Silas Whitson, a Scout with Troop 221 in Daleville, helped to retire the several dozen unserviceable flags at VFW Post 1841 in Daleville on Memorial Day evening. There were about 20 people present to help with this event. With Silas is Jerry Jacobsen, VFW Post 1841 commander. The flag retirement ceremony is held at the post every Memorial Day evening.
