Lock Boyce, owner of Boyce-Holland Veterinary Services in Patrick Springs, was found dead inside his home, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

Boyce was found after 11 a.m. Monday during a well-being check conducted by a family member when Boyce failed to show up at his office at the regular time, Smith said.

Boyce was inside his residence on Bull Mountain Road, Smith added.

A death investigation is being conducted, and an autopsy will be performed, Smith said, adding that Boyce’s death “appears to be from natural causes.

There are no suspicious circumstances,” he added.

Boyce, 68, also was a former member of the Patrick County Board of Supervisors and a community activist.
