The Panther track team traveled to Roane County for the LKC Challenge this past week. Seven teams from around the area competed in all the events. The Panthers have been enjoying some great competition at meets this season and have done very well. They were without a couple of runners on the boys team which played a factor in their outcome.
The boys placed 5th in the event, and the girls stepped up their game and came home with second place. They just seem to get better and better with each meet. The girls’ 4×200 meter relay team consisting of Gabby Beard, Savannah Bragg, Chloe Chennault and Jacey Collins took first place with a time of 2:08.90. Jacey Collins placed 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles and Chloe Chennault placed 3rd. Christian Rogers was 5th in the long jump, jumping 11’1”. Sarah Ligeralde was 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 26’7.5” and 2nd in the discus throw with a toss of 67’ 7.5”. Paris Williams was 4th in the shot put with a throw of 25’10” and 3rd in the discus throw with a toss of 66’ 3.5”. The girls had a great event and continue to improve. With the regional level competition coming up, they will need all their energy to get to the state competition.
