The road through Meadows of Dan was lined with locals and visitors alike on Saturday — a picture perfect day for the 15th annual Meadows of Dan Folk Fair. It was a day for music, storytelling, politicking, gathering with old friends and meeting new. It was an opportunity for local churches, the school, and other community organizations to raise money and promote their causes. It was a meet and greet with local authors and craftsmen, and an opportunity for them to promote their books and crafts.

The Meadows of Dan Elementary School PTO hosted the fish fry, a fund raiser for the school. New this year was the children’s entrepreneurial section, which was a huge success. The Vesta Community Center sold hot dogs and drinks to raise money for the needed new drain field. The Meadows of Dan Baptist Church was on hand to explain their participation in a new program “Operation Christmas Child Shoebox.” The church is a drop off location for Samaritans Purse, an organization that distributes gifts to needy children all over the world.
